Dolly was an undiagnosed nymphomaniac and nurse at Lucia State Hospital, who fell in love with Edmund Tolleson and plotted his escape from the facility. Their Bonnie and Clyde-esque romance ended in a fiery shootout, which resulted in the deaths of two officers, as well as Dolly herself.
Biography[]
Relationship with Edmund[]
Dolly is among one of the first at Lucia State Hospital to see Edmund and treat him with any form of affection or friendship. This interests Edmund, and the two begin a relationship under the close guise of Nurse Mildred Ratched, who firmly believes that Dolly may be able to calm Edmund down.
The relationship between the two grows, and Dolly becomes involved in the plan to break Edmund out of the hospital during the night of the dance. Unbeknownst to Nurse Ratched, however, Dolly and Edmund have formulated their own escape plan and in the process, Gwendolyn Briggs is shot in the chest, much to Mildred's anger. Edmund questions her over the shooting, but Dolly remarks that she "I had no choice, she was coming right at me" and that he doesn't get to have all of the fun.
The two briefly enjoy their life together, but Edmund becomes worried when Dolly begins displaying similar murderous characteristics to animals and innocent humans. When the authorities are made aware of their location, Edmund tells Dolly that he will take the blame for her actions and she will be free to return to work. Dolly dismisses him, however, and shoots two police officers and is shot to death in return moments later.
